Here's a paint scheme test using the new paint shop in NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. I decided to go with a relatively simple scheme like the old Davey Allison/Ernie Irvan #28 Texaco Havoline Ford Thunderbird. It was fairly easy to make a custom "brush" for the front grill and Texaco star logo. The fonts in the game are still somewhat limited, however. It would take a lot of fiddling about to make this quick mockup look better. Still, not a bad start.
Once again, I found I had to make a custom Ford logo, because apparently it hasn't occurred to Eutechnyx that we might want to include manufacturers in our custom paint schemes. Also, the different manufacturers still have different body styles, even though they are supposed to be the uniform COT, rather than the new Gen6 car. As a result, this Ford is actually a Chevy in game, because the Ford body style includes annoying grill indentations that mess with logos on the nose.
One good thing NTG:IL has going for it with custom paint schemes is the option to include all of those small contingency sponsors on the side/nose of the car automatically. They can be turned on or off, and they even thoughtfully left room for you to include more if you want. They definitely deserve credit for that. It was a pain to put them in place for NTG:2011.
